Welcome to the 3D VIVANT Project's Website.

The 3D VIVANT project:

• will investigate the generation of a novel true 3D video technology, based on mixed 3D Holoscopic video content capture and associated manipulation, and display technologies.


• outcomes will have extremely high impact to users, producers, content creators, and filmmakers and it would render Europe the leader in this new genre.


• is supported by the European Commission through the Information & Communication Technologies programme under FP7 and brings together nine participants from academia and industry.


• aims to capture events in 3D and deliver them for realistic, interactive and immersive play back to home users-viewers.


• will create, develop and integrate a comprehensive range of components from the generic technology of 3D imaging.


• will combine/mix real and virtual 3D content homogeneously producing a novel form of rich and interactive content, defined as “3D Holoscopic content”.
