Verity Parker is researching electro-mechanical properties of commercially available yarns/fabrics. Investigation and quantification of silver-coated nylon yarns, in particular their properties when knitted into a fabric. This looks at the electrical response of fabric when strained in different directions relative to the normal orientation of the knitted loops forming the fabric. The work seeks to explain and predict the behavior of the fabrics by representing the fabric as a network of resistive elements.
